After having shot Theyyam for three evenings, I thought of breaking the monotony by wandering around. Had seen references to Bekal Fort on a few milestone markers, did a little bit of asking around and decided to hire a three wheeler and explore the place.

Known for its fort (seen in the silhouetted background), Bekal, is a small town on the shores of Arabian Sea. The fort is supposedly the largest fort in Kerala and was mainly used for defense purposes rather than as an administrative hub. At the time I visited this place, ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) was heavily at work trying to restore the fort. I am personally not a very big fan of the way these buildings get restored, they all look the same once restored.

A quite place, seemed like it was quite popular among the locals as a picnic spot. Wandered around, took a few photographs and had a nice quite evening.
